The first steps towards Interlay and Interlay were made when the XCLAIM paper was presented at the Scaling Bitcoin conference in 2018). Interlay was founded in 2020 to bring research to practice.

Interlay's flagship product is interBTC, which is a1:1 Bitcoin backed asset. InterBTC is the equivalent of DAI with physical settlement.
