A group of students in the Netherlands initiated the project. They wanted to present a local alternative to the two digital payment systems. The group of volunteers set up the foundation. There are people in this picture The use of an "oeruschield" extension was used to address the 51% attack vulnerability inherent in PoW coins. This shield is related to mining. Dutch companies registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce can request certification to be allowed to operate a certified mining pool. There are currently 3 pools that are operational.
