ScPrime?
ScPrime is a project that will pay people to store data in the public cloud using smart contracts and provably redundant data.
ScPrime uses Proof of Work and state channel smart contract script to tie storage providers together. The network is based on the original Sia renter-host protocol and uses a high level of security to create a public distributed cloud service. The utility coin known as SCP can be used to pay anyone who participates as a storage node. A layer 2 reference implementation brings real world access to the network with a core client software called a Relayer, which can be configured as an on-premise or in-cloud instance to access the network with full compatibility with widely used cloud protocols.
Evolution, then revolution.
Maintaining real-world compatibility while transitioning to Web3 is a core manifesto. SCP software will evolve to meet the need, grow a competitive global network and advance anti-fragile decentralization as the use of public key cryptography and utility currencies gain acceptance.
On October 31, 2018, a premine rewarded the community and developers as well as covering expenses for community participants to operate mining pools and initial exchange listing costs. A large cold wallet balance was created.
The network needs to be secured.
ScPrime is a Proof-of-Work -Blake2B consensus algorithm with 10 minute block times. The Genesis reward was 300 SCP declining by a factor of 10 over the course of five years. In the first two years, a declining project fee was included.
Storage Providers put up a system of "collateral" equal to the other side of the contract to mitigate data disruption attacks. While the contract is active, Collateral is locked and unavailable. It is returned to the Provider when successfully completed.
To take advantage of the unique nature of a widely distributed network, datasets are chunked into shards via standard Erasure coding.
